BODY FOUND IN BEGGS

St. Landry Crime Stoppers and Deputy Julian Tibbs of the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office need your help in identifying a body found 2 ½ miles from Washington in the Beggs area.        
  
On August 18, 2019 just be 7:30 pm, the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office was notified by a person walking on Hwy 10 that he noticed what appeared to be a body in a ditch.  Deputies arrived on the scene and located the body of a black female that was decomposing with no id.  The person reporting the body stated he walked in the area on August 16th around 4:30 p.m. and the body was not there.  The body is described as black female in her mid to early 20’s, 5’5’ to 5’6” in height, 110 to 115 pounds, with braids.  She was wearing blue jeans, a red Hawaiian style crop top flower print shirt.  Located on the body was a Texas State University graduate school lanyard with a single key.

ARMED ROBBERIES EVANGELINE SUB

Det. Ray Duplechain of the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office returns to Crime Stoppers and need your help in solving two armed robberies in the Opelousas area.

On August 11, 2019 just before 11:00 pm, deputies were dispatched to the 100 blocks of Deprimo Lane and Avenue A in Opelousas for 2 armed robberies that occurred within minutes apart. The victim on Deprimo Lane had just arrived home when a black male suspect wearing a black hooded sweat shirt and dark pants robbed him at gun point. After demanding his cash, the suspect then ran in the direction of Avenue A.

Deputies were then dispatched to a home on Avenue A at 11:12 pm for another robbery. The victim and his wife had just returned home when an unknown slim black male wearing a black jacket and dark jean pants with a mask on his face pointed a gun at him and his wife and demanded their money.

The suspect has a slim build and appeared to be in his early 20's. The victim stated the suspect had a speech impediment by hesitating what he was saying as he demanded money.

Harry Guilbeau Break ins

Lt. Keith Dupre of the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office returns to St. Landry Crime Stoppers and is asking for your help in locating the suspects involved in multiple home break-ins and thefts in St. Landry Parish.     

 

Detectives are investigating a rash of burglaries and thefts on Harry Guilbeau Road.  The suspects have burglarized and have stolen property between March 19th and 27th 2017.  Stolen was a red air compressor, a red Lowes lawn mower and 2 Wacker Compactors.  The total loss of value in these burglaries is listed over $7.500 dollars.  Video surveillance was able to catch one suspect who was on the property.  A vehicle of interest on other properties is described as a dark colored truck with a possible silver bottom.

LaHaye Eye Center Burglary

Deputy Travis Whitney of the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office returns to Crime Stoppers and needs your help in locating the thieves that burglarized a local business in the Opelousas area. 

 

On March 3rd 2017, deputies responded to the LaHaye Eye Clinic on 4313 I-49 South Service Road Opelousas Louisiana concerning a burglary.  The reporting person stated that grounds keeper noticed two of the storage sheds were open.  Investigation shows that unknown suspects entered the storage sheds in the back of the business by breaking the locks on the doors.  Once inside the suspects stole a red 220 air compressor valued at $1,500.

Detective Eric Reed of the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office returns to Crime Stoppers and needs your help in apprehending five fugitives wanted by the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office.    

James Rozas is wanted in Acadia Parish for vehicle theft and by the St Landry Parish Sheriff`s Office for violation of a protective order, resisting arrest and simple escape. Rozas was last seen in the Eunice area around 227 Patton Street where he escaped from deputies during his arrest.

Detectives need to identify this suspect and question him concerning alleged thefts at Wal-Mart in Opelousas totaling over $3000 in merchandise. 

This unknown suspect is also wanted for theft by using a stolen identification card to steal from a local truck stop.  He was last seen possibly in an older model Buick, brown or tan in color, with 684 as the last three numbers on the license plate.

 

The Sex Offender Unit is looking for two non compliant sex offenders.  Jasper James Charles is a convicted sex offender and his last known address was 1010 East Laurent St., Opelousas, La.  Charles is a tier 1 sex offender and is wanted for 3 separate sex offender charges for failing to comply with the sex offender laws.

 

Otis John is a convicted tier 3 sex offender and his last known address is 300 South Martin Luther King Dr. Apt. 31, Eunice, La.  John has failed to comply with state laws for registration of a sex offender and a child predator, John has also failed to obtain his sex offender id.

Port Barre Theft

The owner reported that sometime on the 14th of December 2016, unknown suspects entered his property and stole an assortment of recreational equipment.  The thieves entered the back yard of his home and removed deer cameras, propane bottles, Under Armour gear, cameras and personal lighting equipment.  All the items were stolen from the owner’s boat and are estimated over $2,000 dollars.

Domestic Violance and Kid knapping Suspect

On January 10, 2017, deputies were dispatched to Cottontail Lane, Opelousas Louisiana in reference to a home invasion.  The owner reported that her ex-boyfriend of over 2 years broke into her home and tried to abduct her.  After he kicked in the door she ran to her bedroom and locked herself inside. The suspect then kicked in her bedroom door and dragged her out of her house.  When the suspect tried to put her inside of his vehicle, the victim escaped and ran back into her home.   The suspect then entered her home and started dragging her out again.  The victim was able to fight him off and the suspect fled before deputies arrived.

Home Break In Mandy Rd

Detective Marcus Bergeron of the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office returns to Crime Stoppers and needs your help in locating the thieves that burglarized a local home in the Opelousas area. 

On December 28th 2016, deputies responded to 113 Mandy Road, Opelousas, La. for a report of an open back door of a residence.  The neighbors reported that the home owner was out of state working.  When the deputies arrived they realized the home was burglarized.  The thieves cut off the homes electricity disabling the camera system and entered the home.  Stolen in the burglary were cell phones, a Play Station 3 with approximately 20 games, a Mossberg 12-Gauge shotgun, 2 Ruger 10/22 rifles, an Iver Johnson M1, and an assortment of ammunition.

Detective Marcus Bergeron of the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s office returns to Crime Stoppers and needs your help in locating the thieves that are responsible for a home burglary in the Eunice area.    

On December 3rd 2016, the owner of a residence off of Hwy 29 in the Eunice area reported that her home was broken into.  The owner stated she left her home in the afternoon then returned around 5:00pm to find her back door to her residence was broke open.  Stolen in the burglary was a fire proof box containing over $100,000 dollars in cash, $600.00 dollars from her makeup drawer, jewelry, two handguns one being a .22 caliber with a pearl colored handle, and a Steven’s double barrel 12 gauge shotgun with two triggers and two hammers on it.  The barrel also had soldering in the middle of the barrel.

THIBODEAUX'S ELECTRIC THEFT

        On November 23rd 2016 at 2:34am, Thibodeaux’s Electric in Lawtell Louisiana was the victim of an early morning theft.  An unknown suspect is seen driving to the business in what is believed to be an extended cab GMC/Chevy older body style truck with chrome door handles and a chrome gas cap.  The suspect then exited his truck and is captured by surveillance video entering the outside storage area and stealing 12 generator batteries.  The batteries are described as the Excite 26R and 34 generator batteries and are valued at over $600.00 dollars.

UPS PACKAGE THIEF

Detective Greg Cormier of the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office returns to St. Landry Crime Stoppers and is asking for your help in locating the suspects involved in the theft from a local home.  

 On November 23rd 2016, the owner of 181 Plantation Road Opelousas reported two packages were delivered by UPS and a black male was seen on her home security system stealing them.  

The black male was seen coming from across the street where two other suspects were waiting by a sliver car.  The car was parked across the street where the suspect placed the packages in the trunk and the 3 suspects drove away.  We are asking for your help in identifying these thieves and for you to call your carriers to check on the status of your merchandise being delivered to your home.  If you are missing items, contact your local law enforcement agency.

MULTIPLE BURGLARIES AT AN 89 YEAR OLD EUNICE RESIDENT HOME

St. Landry Crime Stoppers and Officer Corina Noblitt of the Eunice Police Department is asking for your help in locating the suspect involved in the ongoing burglaries of an 89 year old Eunice resident. 

On November 17, 2016, the owner of the property reported that once again he was the victim of a burglary at his home located at 1931 West Park Ave in Eunice.  The home was also broken into on October 31st and November 9, 2016.  The thief has gained entry into the home by removing the sliding glass door and damaging a dead bolt during previous break in.   

Once inside the thief stole over $1,400 in cash.  The suspect is described as a white male wearing a green shirt and green backpack and ran out the house when he was approached by the owner.

On November 6th 2016 at 6:42am, an unknown male suspect broke into the Rohner Chiropractic Office located on Hwy 182.  The suspect used a crowbar to force the rear door of the business open.  Once inside the suspect emptied filing cabinets and searched through desks.  Multiple burglaries were reported in the area and detectives need your help in identifying this suspect.

HELP FIND TWO STOLEN FARM TRACTORS

St. Landry Crime Stoppers and Detective Mark Fontenot of the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office need your help in solving the theft of two farm tractors.     

 

        On June 25th 2016, a 1979 Long 510 tractor Model 1581 was reported stolen from Pile Ridge Road.  The owner reported that he had chained the tractor to a bush hog but someone cut the lock then used a trailer to steal it.  The tractor is valued at $4,000 and was last seen on May 5th 2016. 

Then on September 7th 2016, a 2008 John Deere 6430 was reported stolen from the I-49 area.  The theft occurred between the dates of September 4th and 6th 2016. The tractor has a missing right fender and is valued at $85,000 dollars.

AVENUE A BURGLARY

St. Landry Crime Stoppers and Deputy Jerone Lemelle of the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office need your help in locating the thieves that are responsible for a daytime home burglary.  

 

On October 11, 2016, deputies responded to a burglary on Avenue A in Opelousas, Louisiana.  The owner reported that she left her home at 7:30am and later returned at 4:30pm to notice her bedroom door open and a window of the room shattered.  The suspects entered the home through the window and began to empty drawers throughout the home.  Stolen in the burglary was currency, a Microsoft X-Box and Nintendo Game Center, cell phones, laptops and tablets.  The thieves also stole jewelry that was left to her by her deceased mother.  The total loss in this case is estimated over $3,000 dollars.

 

This is not the first time a burglary has occurred at this residence and we need your help in catching these criminals.

RENA ROAD BURGLARY

St. Landry Crime Stoppers and Deputy Derek VanAsselburg of the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office needs your help in solving a burglary of a local business.      

                      

On September 21, 2016, deputies while on extra patrol in the area of Rena Road in Eunice observed what appeared to be a gate and lock damaged of a local business.  Stolen in the burglary were a 2009 Gator Trax boat, a 2009 Mud Buddy engine, and a 2009 McClain trailer.  The owner also reported missing a Homelight and Stihl chainsaw, a welding machine, cutting torches, a masonry and a miter saw.  The stolen equipment is valued at over $15,000 dollars.

Montgomery Road Cold Case Break In

St. Landry Crime Stoppers and Deputy Andrew Lorah of the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office need your help in solving a 2012 cold case burglary worth over $85,000 dollars.    

   On March 27, 2012, deputies responded to a burglary on Montgomery Road in Opelousas, Louisiana.  The owner of the residence stated that she returned home at 4:45pm and noticed that her home was broken into.   The thieves kicked in the door and stole $10,000 dollars in silver certificates, $7,000 in silver coins, and over $68,000 in jewelry.  The jewelry is described as diamond, sapphire, gold rings, pendants, and chains.  $40,000 of the jewelry was considered antique.  The thieves went room to room empting drawers and even broke down the locked door of their autistic child’s toy room.  The stolen property was passed down to her family by her deceased father and her grandparents. 

Very little physical evidence was found at the scene.  Detectives have canvassed the area and interviewed suspects which resulted in no leads in the case. There were a total of 5 homes in the vicinity Montgomery Road that was broken into.
