Detective Jessica Tezeno of the Eunice Police Department returns to Crime Stoppers and needs your help in solving a shooting in the city of Eunice.

In the early morning hours of Aug 22, 2022 at approximately 5:45 am, the Eunice Police Department responded to neighbors hearing gunshots in the area of South 12th and Eddie Street. While officers were responding to the call, additional calls were received concerning gunshots being heard. Officers learned that a total of 15 rounds were shot at the home and a disabled juvenile victim was struck in the upper chest area. The victim was transported to Lafayette General Hospital and was listed in stable condition and has since been released. At this time, we have no suspects and we need your help with information on this case.

HELP NEEDED SOLVING RICE LANE SHOOTING IN OPELOUSAS
August 03, 2022

Detective Derek Garrick of the Opelousas Police Department returns to Crime Stoppers and needs your help with solving a shooting inside the city of Opelousas.

 

On July 30, 2022 at approximately 7:34 pm, officers with the Opelousas Police Department were dispatched to the intersection of Rice Lane and Colliard Street in reference to multiple subjects involved in a shooting. 

Security footage shows five armed subjects wearing hoodies and walking southbound on Rice Lane when they were approached from behind by an individual gunman.  A shootout occurred and all subjects fled on foot.  23 shell casings were found at the scene and one juvenile arrived at a local hospital with gunshot wounds sustained in the shootout.

Det. Mike Hidalgo of the Opelousas Police Department returns to Crime Stoppers and needs your help with solving a shooting inside the city of Opelousas.

 

On July 10, 2022 at approximately 3:00 a.m., officers with the Opelousas Police Department were dispatched to the 700 block of East Blanchard Street in reference to a shooting complaint. Upon arrival, officers were told that the residence had been struck by gunfire. Six bullet holes were located in the front of the residence and a bullet was found on the front walkway.

Officers were also informed that a vehicle at the 500 block of Willow Street had been struck by gunfire.  Upon arrival, Officers checked the vehicle and discovered six bullet holes. The victim was sitting in her vehicle at the intersection of Blanchard Street and Foster Street at the time of the shooting.

HELP SOLVE MULTIPLE THEFTS AT A LOCAL BUSINESS

Deputy Casey LeDee of the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office returns to Crime Stoppers and needs your help in solving multiple thefts at a local business in the Opelousas area.
 
On June 22nd, the owner of the Crawfish House, located at the 2000 block of Landry Street, arrived at work and noticed that the copper wires and tubing had been cut from the building’s air conditioning unit. Found lying in the grass near the business was a 4 pound sledgehammer that is painted with what appears to be racist symbols.
 
According to security footage, the incident on June 22nd occurred at approximately midnight and involved a burgundy sedan with driver side rear damage and a rear spoiler, which was occupied by one male. The male exited the vehicle, walked towards the unit with cutting tools and proceeded to cut the wires around the unit.
 
In the incident on July 4th at approximately 9:30 am, a grey pickup truck was occupied by two males and parked in the back of the business. The two males exited the vehicle with tools to remove the freezer condenser coil and compressor from the back of the business. The license plate on the vehicle was blacked out or removed.

HELP SOLVE 2 SHOOTINGS ON ANDY ROAD

Detective Graig Leblanc of the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office returns to Crime Stoppers and needs your help in solving 2 shootings in the Opelousas area.
 
During the early morning hours on June 25, 2022, deputies responded to a drive-by shooting at the 200 block of Andy Road in the Opelousas area. A vehicle stopped in the middle of the road. Multiple unknown subjects exited the vehicle and began shooting at the residence. The residence was hit more than 18 times and deputies were able to locate 20 shell casings. 2 adults and 5 children were sleeping inside the residence; however, no injuries were reported. Witnesses state that a dark colored 4 door Honda was seen leaving the scene.
 
At 4:00 am on June 27, 2022, another drive-by shooting at the 200 block of Andy Road was reported. 1 adult and 2 children were asleep inside the residence and, again, no injuries were reported. Witnesses observed a white 4 door vehicle in the vicinity at the time of the shooting.
 
Investigators have reason to believe that these shootings are related to other shootings that recently occurred inside the city of Opelousas.

2 ATM THEFTS IN ST. LANDRY PARISH
June 22, 2022

Detective Samuel Tidwell and Detective Mark Leblanc of the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office return to Crime Stoppers and needs your help in solving 2 ATM burglaries in St. Landry Parish.
 
On May 29, 2022 two unidentified subjects wearing masks and hooded jackets attempted to force entry into an ATM machine located at the Farmer’s Bank at the 300 block of Main Street in Sunset.  Both subjects used pry bars to force the machine open but were unable to gain access to the cash box inside.
 
Subject number one was wearing dark colored pants with a light colored hooded jacket, light colored work gloves and a black face mask pulled up over his nose to conceal his identify, with a bag slung across his shoulder.
 
Subject number two was wearing dark colored pants, dark colored zip-up jacket, on top of a camouflaged hoodie, a black face mask, work gloves and shoes with reflective tongues.
 
On June 9, 2022, deputies responded to an alarm activated at the Valero at the 4900 block of the I-49 Service Road in the Opelousas area.  The front door of the business was open, the glass on the door was shattered and the ATM machine was missing from the business.  Security footage shows three subjects loading the ATM machine in a dark colored truck with a camper shell and driving away.
 
Investigation suggests that both of these crimes may be connected.

Ross Michael Smithey is a 27 year old white male and is wanted by the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office for Felony Theft. His last known address is the 400 block of Jess Bergeron Road in the Opelousas area.

Detective Mike Hidalgo of the Opelousas Police Department returns to Crime Stoppers and needs your help in locating a suspect wanted on murder charges.
 
On April 27, 2022, officers with the Opelousas Police Department were dispatched to 719 Mia Street for a shooting complaint where one adult and five children had been shot.
 
Two of the victims, the adult and a four-year-old female, died as a result of being shot. A one year old and a six year old also sustained serious injuries from gunshots and were airlifted to a specialized treatment facility.
 
The investigation revealed that Davieontray Breaux, also known as Wiggi or Drako, was responsible for the shooting. He is described as a 6’ 5” 200-pound black male with black hair and brown eyes. Breaux may also be in possession of a black Drako handgun and a black AR-15 style rifle.

Henry Terry of 821 South Beulah Apt 19B in Eunice is a black male, age 47, and is wanted for domestic abuse, simple battery, and resisting arrest.

Gavin L. Guidroz is a 20-year-old black male of 401 Sunflower Road in Opelousas; he is wanted for possession of synthetic marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Emily Winkler of 693 Soileau Road in Eunice is a white female, age 34, and is wanted for theft, resisting an officer, simple escape and traffic charges.

Detective Mike Hidalgo of the Opelousas Police Department returns to Crime Stoppers and needs your help in solving a burglary and attempted murder case.
 
On March 10, 2022 at approximately 5:41 AM, officers with the Opelousas Police Department were dispatched to a residence on Delmas Street for a shooting complaint. The complainant stated that a white male fired several shots at him when he confronted him about walking near the residences. He is described as wearing black pants, a black jacket with a white hood and a black face mask. He was also wearing reflective light colored athletic shoes and gloves.
 
A surveillance video showed the suspect attempting to burglarize several vehicles in the area while armed with a dark colored handgun. A stolen bicycle was also located in the area and it was believed that the suspect used the bicycle to travel to the area to commit the burglaries. The suspect was last seen running towards Super 1.

Detective Sgt. Eric Reed and Det. Lt. Mike Soileau of the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Sex Offender Unit return to Crime Stoppers and need your help in locating two wanted sex offenders.
 
Thomas Joseph Jarona left his registered address of 1271 Magnolia Street in Eunice and failed to notify the Sex Offender Unit of his new address. Warrants for Jarona include; failure to register or notify as sex offender or child predator and failing to pay his 2021 annual sex offender fees. Jarona also has two previous failures to register as a sex offender charges for years 2019 & 2020 pending against him in court. Jorana is described as a 43 year old white male, 6’3” and weighs 200 pounds.
 
Julius Aristelle Lewis was convicted on March 18, 2022 for one count of molestation of a juvenile. He was sentenced to serve 10 years hard labor but instead placed on three years’ probation and is refusing to register with the Sex Offender Unit. Warrants on Lewis include; failure to register as a sex offender or child predator and probation violation. Attempts to locate Lewis at his listed address of 142 Donna Street in Grand Coteau have been unsuccessful. Lewis is a 28 year old black male, 5’5” and weighs 198 pounds. Both suspects are believed to be still in the St. Landry Parish area.

HELP SOLVE MURDER OF 19 YEAR OLD JALEN HILL

Det. Mike Hidalgo of the Opelousas Police Department returns to Crime Stoppers and needs your help in solving a murder in the city of Opelousas.  

 

On March 22, 2022, Officers with the Opelousas Police Department were dispatched to 413 Raymond Street for a shooting complaint. Upon arrival, the officers found the body of a nineteen-year-old black male identified as Jalen Hill. Hill was deceased in the residence and died of an apparent gunshot wound. Further investigation revealed that Hill’s residence had also been struck several times by gunfire.

 

Investigators also discovered that items at Hill’s residence had been stolen shortly after his death.  Evidence recovered at the scene revealed that several suspects may have been involved in Hill’s death.

Louisiana State Fire Marshal Butch Browning Jr. returns to Crime Stoppers and needs your help in solving an arson in the city of Opelousas.    

 

On Monday, February 28, just before 5:15 p.m., the Opelousas Fire Department responded to a report of a fire at the vacant Southwest Elementary building located in the 1200 block of Burr Street.

 

Firefighters discovered the fire was contained to one classroom and were able to put it out before it spread.  Following an assessment of the scene, State Fire Marshal deputies determined the fire was intentionally set.  The school was closed years ago and was under construction.  No one was working at the site when the fire occurred.

SHOOTING IN OPELOUSAS AT SUPER LOOPER

St. Landry Crime Stoppers and Officer Sabre Gabriel of the Opelousas Police Department need your help in solving a shooting in the city of Opelousas.  

 

On March 19, 2022 at approximately 5:20PM, the Opelousas Police Department was dispatched to the business of Super Looper located at 1344 West Grolee Street.  Video footage showed that a silver Hyundai drove onto the parking lot and parked at a gas pump.  A white Honda is then seen circling around the parking lot on the opposite side of the gas pump. 

 

The driver of the white Honda is seen lowering the driver-side window when the passenger and driver of the silver Hyundai stepped out of the vehicle and begin shooting at the Honda using a pistol and a rifle.  Both of the vehicles then fled the scene using Grolee and Bullard.

Jasmin Dwayne Coleman is a 34 year old black male and is wanted for resisting an officer, obstruction of justice, possession with intent to distribute both schedule I and schedule II drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia, as well as traffic charges. His last known address is the 1200 block of Jefferson Street in Opelousas.
 
Carl James Vigers is a 39 year old black male and is wanted for manufacturing with intent to distribute schedule II drugs, possession of schedule I drugs and possession of schedule II drugs. His last known address is the 2300 block of Ledoux Circle in Opelousas.
 
Henry Anthony Washington, Jr. is a 24 year old black male and is wanted for principal to possession with intent to distribute schedule I drugs, domestic abuse battery involving strangulation & child endangerment, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, felony theft, and battery charges. His last known address is the 1200 block of Jefferson Street in Opelousas.
 
These individuals are members of the Henry Washington drug trafficking organization and have taken extreme measures to evade capture.

Detective Michael Hidalgo of the Opelousas Police Department returns to Crime Stoppers and needs your help in solving a shooting in the city of Opelousas.
 
On February 16, 2022 just after 9:30PM officers with the Opelousas Police Department were dispatched to 121 West Church Street in reference to the shooting of a home and four vehicles.
 
Surveillance video from the area showed four suspects walk away from a gray vehicle on Occidental Street prior to the shooting. The suspects then ran back to the vehicle after the shooting and left the area traveling North on Occidental. Approximately fifty spent shell casings were located in the area. The home and vehicles were shot multiple times.

AGGRAVATED ASSAULT IN OPELOUSAS

Detective Derek Garrick of the Opelousas Police Department returns to Crime Stoppers and needs your help in solving an aggravated assault in the city of Opelousas.
 
On February 3rd, officers responded to an aggravated assault complaint that occurred on Bullard Street in Opelousas. The victim stated that she was being followed down Landry Street by a big truck, possibly white in color. A little ways down, she made a left turn heading south on Bullard, then had to stop for the red light at Vine Street. At that time, a light-skinned black male wearing a camouflage jacket approached her vehicle and began banging on her window. When the victim saw that the black male was pointing a gun at her, she pulled off and the suspect returned to his vehicle and turned East on Vine Street.

St. Landry Crime Stoppers and Detective Karen Frilot of the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office need your help in solving a shooting in the Opelousas area.  

 

On February 9th at approximately 6:45 PM, deputies with the St. Landry Sheriff’s Office responded to 134 Milo Lane Opelousas in reference to a shooting.  The victims in the shooting were a 24 year old male and an 11 year old female juvenile.

 

The investigation revealed that an unknown suspect wore a mask to conceal their identity and knocked on the front door. When the door was opened, the suspect immediately began shooting into the residence striking the victims.  Both victims required surgery due to their injuries. OPELOUSAS MURDER OF 19 YEAR OLD

Detective Lt. Lynnette Chavis of the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office returns to Crime Stoppers and needs your help in solving a murder that took the life of a 19 year old in the Opelousas area.
 
On February 6, 2022 just before 1:30 am it was reported that a male subject was dropped off at a local hospital with a gunshot wound and later died from his injury.
 
The investigation revealed that the shooting occurred at the KC Hall located at 107 Hwy 3043 in the Opelousas area that was being rented for a party. The victim identified as 19 year old Damien Joseph Lastrapes Jr. of Opelousas and two vehicles were shot in the incident. There were over 53 shots fired at the scene and we need any witnesses or anyone with information to come forward in this case.

IDENTIFY SUSPECTS IN EUNICE, OPELOUSAS, VILLE PLATTE BURGLARIES

In the month of January 2022, law enforcement has seen a rash of burglaries and attempted burglaries. In the Eunice area, the unknown suspects have been seen on Ash, 5th and 6th Street as well as the Gourney and the University Place subdivisions. Many of the suspects are seen here on home security systems. Stolen was cash, purses, bikes, catalytic convertors and personal items.
 
In the Opelousas area a black male is seen attempting to burglarize the Boudin Stop on Hwy 167. The same suspect also broke in to a business in Ville Platte. If you can identify any of these suspects call Crime Stoppers today.
