This week St. Landry Crime Stoppers needs your help in solving a vehicle burglary that happened in Sunset, La. Video surveillance cameras at Eddie B’s Nightclub, west of Sunset shows a black male, and a passenger driving on the parking lot early morning of February 20, 2010. The vehicle is described as a white medium sized four door car. A black male is described as tall and thin wearing a white cap, white shirt and blue jeans. In the surveillance video the suspect is walking around looking into vehicles, then leaves momentarily. Once he returns, he went to a van parked in the parking lot, broke the window and took items from the vehicle. Two other vehicles were burglarized. Items taken were credit cards, debit cards, purses, keys and cash.  All these items were in the purses, which had been left in plain view, easy for a thief to see. This week St. Landry Crime Stoppers needs your help in solving a residential burglary that happened in Eunice, La. Eunice Police officers were dispatched to 1421 Amazon. Upon arrival it was discovered that someone had pried open the garage door to gain entry into the residence. Once inside, the perpetrator went through closets scattering clothing and documents all over the floor. A safe was taken from the residence containing several antique silver dollar coins, antique silver dimes and two dollar bills. It appears the safe had been loaded into a shopping cart and traveled towards US 190. The shopping cart and safe were located near Vivian Street and Perchville Road a few days later.             This week St. Landry Crime Stoppers needs your help in solving a church burglary that happened that happened in the small community of Lawtell located between Opelousas and Eunice. On February 10^th, 2010, St. Landry Parish Sheriff deputies responded to a burglary call at the Word Ministries church, located at 107 Gennuso St. Upon arrival, the pastor of the church informed the deputies that someone had stolen a 37 in plasma TV and play station from the sanctuary area. The door to the church and a wooden building had been kicked in to gain entry. Total value of damages and stolen items exceeds $3000.             This week St. Landry Crime Stoppers needs your help in solving a business burglary. Sometime during the night of Monday, February 1st, or the early morning hours of Tuesday, February 2^, 2010, someone stole two Kabota Zero turn lawnmowers from Progressive Tractor & Implement located at 5017 I-49 Service Rd, Opelousas. Entry was made by cutting a pipe gate to where mowers and tractors are kept in the yard. Stolen were two Kabota model 2D326 Diesel 26 HP, with 60 inch cut. Value of these items exceeds $22,000.  A $1500 reward plus St. Landry Crime Stoppers reward up to $1000 will be given for recovery of items stolen.             This week St. Landry Crime Stoppers needs your help in solving thefts that happened on the East side of Eunice. During the hours of 10pm to 5am, residents on Max Road, Rozas Road, South St. Mary and the 1600 Block of US 190, have had property stolen from their vehicles, parked in their yards. A browning shotgun, several laptops, computers, iPods, hard drives and a Garmin GPS, are some of the items taken from the vehicles. These thefts happened on January 19^th, through January 25^th of 2009. None of these vehicles were locked. The St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office is requesting any information concerning several burglaries from the Northwest section of St. Landry Parish.  The items missing from these burglaries include many antiques.  In addition to the missing antiques, a small gray fireproof safe was also stolen.  The antiques are as follows: 

- Three antique shotguns

- Five antique clocks

            - One being a brown, wood frame, antique mantle clock, measuring approximately eight inches

             in height and eighteen inches in width, with a dial measuring approximately five inches in

            diameter.

            - One gold colored antique mantle clock contained in a glass dome

- One antique pottery foot warmer   

- One antique ladies mirror and brush set

- One antique mahogany bookcase, with wood framed glass doors on the front

- One Complete set of mid 1950’s Encyclopedia Britannica’s

- Seven antique bracelets

- Six pair of antique earrings

- One Antique watch

Gene Allen Dunbar (shown above) currently has two active warrants for his arrest with the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office.  The first warrant was issued on August 14, 2009 for Simple Battery.  The second warrant was issued on January 04, 2010 for Domestic Abuse Battery and Unauthorized use of a Motor Vehicle.   Gene Dunbar currently has an address on 1840 Duplechin Rd., Church Point, LA 70525, but is believed to be staying in the Lafayette, LA area.

On October 18, 2009, Sunset Police Department received a call that a residence at 101 Crescent had been broken into. An axe was found near the side door, which was used to break the glass to gain entry. Once inside, every room had been ransacked with drawers left open and clothes thrown on the floor. A Sentry Safe containing rings, a gold chain, a savings bond, a cancer and burial policy and other valuable items were taken. A large white bank bag with an undisclosed amount of cash was taken. This week St. Landry Crime Stoppers needs your help in solving residential burglaries that have been happening in St. Landry Parish. On December 17, 2009, someone went to a residence in the Tall Timbers Subdivision on the west side of Eunice, and kicked in the door to gain entry. Jewelry, rings and other items were taken. This type of burglary is happening in Evangeline and Acadia Parish also. On December 17, 2009, someone kicked in a door at a residence on La 97, South of Basile and stole a Remington Shotgun, a Mossberg 22 automatic rifle and a 1970 class ring. The time frame from arrival to departure is usually 15 minutes.
